Detecting Diabetic Retinopathy is a manual process that takes a lot of time, economic resources and specialised staff. As the number of diabetics keeps growing and the scarcity of specialised staff increases the existing infrastructure for screening diabetic retinopathy will become even more scarce and infeasible. Faced with the need to have cost effective and accessible tools for improving and automating screening processes at ULMA we have developed an integral solution that can resolve that issue by optimising available resources and improving accessibility to this kind of programme.

Optimising the screening process

Currently, there are systematic screening processes implemented in national health care systems that have a periodical annual or bi-annual recommended examination for all diabetics. However, in most cases they are not carried out due to a lack of resources. In most cases, the screening is done visually by Ophthalmologists or trained primary care doctors.

Primary care connects the device to the UMI platform. The images are uploaded and shared automatically among the specialists tasked with evaluating them.

Our solution gives professionals an automatic, accessible and cost effective tool for aiding diagnosis that can help with early prevention and detection of Diabetic Retinopathy. It will make their day to day work easier and it can be used in population screening processes for diabetic patients. It optimises resource management and contributes to reducing the prevalence and rate of the illness and, consequently, to lowering the health care costs it entails.

This is an intelligent solution for AMD monitoring in the patient's home. It automates analysis and interpretation of pathological biomarkers in OCT images for personalised treatment and optimal progress.

This is a teleophthalmology system for glaucoma diagnosis and screening based in automatic analysis and interpretation of eye injury patterns from ophthalmologic results and intrinsic patient risk factors.
